Updated the patch to work with the 4.1.x-dev branch.
Is it possible to trigger periodical clean-up of files via Cron or Drush?
This is mentioned in #2854810: Integration with rules / cron task / batch API → , but maybe that's a Drupal 8 feature?
With d8 we have an option to delete orphaned files by a periodicity.
