To provide more control back to the content editor to how the view should be rendered on the page. Use the new plugins system to expose the views sort options on the views reference field.
Add additional sort plugin that exposes the available sort options back to the content editor.

I was using it for overriding a sort filter in an events view where they wanted to flipflop the order of the start date.
