Problem/Motivation

ContentType Field Grouping is very powerfull and makes the editors live easier!
There are several modules for Drupal 7 which add ContentType field-grouping functionality. Like e.g.:

Grouping fields is very powerfull and makes it easy for the user to add content even if it is very complicated. And the rendered HTML is easier to style if some fields are grouped together.

We have a customer who wants to have a list of institutions. Some institutions have under-institutions some not. some have one under-institution some several. With grouping some fields together and have one field group's Number of values to 1 (main-institution) and the other group of field's Number of values to unlimited (sub-institutions) makes it very easy to handle this task. Have a look at the attached screenshot to see, what i exactely mean.

Proposed resolution

It would be nice, if ContentType field-grouping functionality would find it's way into the core.

    Thank you for sharing your idea for improving Drupal.

    We are working to decide if this proposal meets the Criteria for evaluating proposed changes. There hasn't been any discussion here for over 8 years which suggests that this has either been implemented or there is no community support. Your thoughts on this will allow a decision to be made.

    Since we need more information to move forward with this issue, the status is now Postponed (maintainer needs more info). If we don't receive additional information to help with the issue, it may be closed after three months.
