Make this module more user (not admin) friendly

I see you meant this module to be used my site admins, but what if I want to use it to let users post updates on a content they authored?

Problems for these cases (which I think would be the majority!):

1. the create message page has an admin path, thus an admin theme :/ (that is not the case when users create other content)
2. the authoring information can be changed (which a normal user should never be able to do!)

Are these major or minor problems (not a developer yet)?
