Grab http://drupalcode.org/sandbox/chx/2105305.git/blob/refs/heads/master:/te... , flesh it out, add Insert/Update/Merge , add a shutdown handler to persist most of core will pass with this and will be infinitely faster cos it will require 1 table creation (the one into the shutdown handler writes a serialized php array) instead of a ton.

We could support db_query() by mapping the query string itself to a helper method.

    Thank you for creating this issue to improve Drupal.

    We are working to decide if this task is still relevant to a currently supported version of Drupal. There hasn't been any discussion here for over 8 years which suggests that this has either been implemented or is no longer relevant. Your thoughts on this will allow a decision to be made.
