The hooks in the issue summary were changed before the release of Drupal 8. Also updated was the documentation. I think this is now outdated.
EntityManager::getFieldDefinitions has used hook_ENTITY_TYPE_field_info() and hook_ENTITY_TYPE_field_info_alter(). But they are not identified at entity.api.php. We need to add them for developers.
