gallery formatter with image nodes in views

hi

i´m working on a website for an artist at the moment. i created a content type "art" and there you can add paintings, drawings, objects, etc. "art" has some more fields like "technic", "material", "size", "category", etc. so i can add 1 image at once only. now i tried to make a view and i don´t figured out how this works. it seems gallery formatter need the images in one node and it is not possible to have several nodes with 1 image.
is there a way to realize that?
