I'm new to Drupal and I was going to run Drupal on a shared server but I'm concerned about security. I don't want to run Drupal under my UserID, I can't afford a dedicated server, and I'm not a sysadmin. I discovered I can get a Virtual Private Server (VPS) and use file permissions like I would on a dedicated server.
Nothing is mentioned that I could find in the Administration Guide about running Drupal on a VPS. Please explain in “Securing file permissions and ownership” what file permissions should be used to secure Drupal on a Ubuntu VPS.
