, bearing in mind that this function could have several uses throughout core, which can be used to solve more cases generically by providing a hirarchical tree of any list of taxonomy.

Soon I will provide a simple patch for that.

The change is currently missing an automated test that fails when run with the original code, and succeeds when the bug has been fixed.
