There is a contributed module that takes the place of the original command.

You can install it with

composer require drupal/devel_entity_updates

Enable it with

drush en devel_entity_updates

and run it with

drush entup

I am also getting a similar error on Drupal 10.0.3 with PHP 8.1.14
