This would need a custom patch for Drupal 10 as well, since hook_field_widget_form_alter was deprecated. Otherwise there is no correct upgrade path.

Patch committed.
It would fairly easily be possible to store those module ids in the drupal config table.
I would have to store the existing ones on activation/update.
Then other modules could simply add/remove their own ids on activation/deactivation.
Perhaps I will do that in the future, and add some instructions in the README.md file.
