It would be better to consider upgrading to Drupal 10 since Drupal 8 reached its end of life on November 17, 2021. Drupal 10 uses PHP version 8.1.

A recent post did not appear on the home page but was listed in the log. The log entry had a view link which took me to the article. From there I clicked Edit, Save and it now appears on the home page but not in the Content list. And, I created a forum and it along with my fotst post comes an goes.

There's no fixed solution for errors like this. We need to review the code base and database to determine why it occurred. This issue is not typical for a Drupal installation and could be caused by missing tables in the imported database or issues with the configuration manager.
In a typical case, we could add some hook_update_N() to install the missing schema and fields or run some Drush commands to install the missing schema.
