This module strives to deliver some extensions to the Entity Reference field from core.

Currently it just provides additional Field Formatters for Entity Reference fields with multiple values, that allow to limit and sort the entity reference items that will be displayed.

The field formatters use the core formatters for Entity Reference Label, Entity Reference Id and Entityreference Rendered Entity and extend them to provide the following options that are not available with the core formatters:

display first, second, third, etc. item
display the first two, first three, etc. items
display last, second last, etc. item
display last two, last three, etc. items
display second and third items, and various over combinations like this

In addition the entities can be sorted on any field/property on the entities:

sort by creation date or last change date
sort by sticky or promote property
sort by any fields values

It also allows (only for the rendered entity formatter) to display some entities in a different view mode. That is to display the first or any number of items starting from the first entity in a different view mode than the rest of the entities.

Sort, limit and display feature can also be used together.

This module strives to be as close as possible to the core formatters and let the core formatters handle the display logic. The module only filters out items if necessary. This is also where it differs from the similar module Better Entity Reference Formatter. In addition this module also provides the label and ID formatter which Better Entity Reference Formatter does not.
