I created a custom view for my groups, and then set this view as the default view for organic groups in organic groups configuration. My custom view contained just the group node, with a separate view for group posts. All was well, except that I had to manually also change the links inside the other views, like the list of groups, (View with path "og") until I checked the individual group nodes. Now, when viewing an individual group node a message "No posts in this group" appears (there are definitely posts in this group.)
I came up with kind of an ugly work around, of hacking og.module to change the message "no posts in this group" to instead say "View group page" with a link to /og. Although in the context of this site is unlikely a user will belong to more than one group, this is messy, and requires an extra step for the user.
