UX Manager Changes to Maintainers.txt

Created on 19 November 2025, 24 days ago

Proposal:

Aidan for UX Manager in maintainers.txt:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and final say on the UX of the AI module and things that impact the user experience. (Including UIs and user workflows, etc).
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders such as the Drupal CMS and Drupal Core UX team and the UX needs and research as well as others working on UX throughout the UX ecosystem.
  • Provide processes for UX review allowing other developers to focus on their areas and bring things up under UX review where they need it.
  • Create and maintain an AI UX strategy including use-cases, personas, and approach to UX.

Motivation:

As the AI Ecosystem grows we are finding more and more developers are able to submit changes to the UI and UX without clear vision of how everything fits together. Some things go in that makes sense to developers but don't make sense to end-users. When people attempt to improve the UX there are many different interests, stakeholders and overlap of the AI UX with other areas of Drupal. Therefore having someone that can provide leadership and co-ordinate things is necessary to help individual UX specialists and designers focus on what they are good at.

Up until now yautja_cetanu, kevinquillen and scott_user have focused on the Drupal AI module UX. However Kevin and Scott have focused on their respective areas such as search or the ckeditor tools whereas yautja_cetanu is involved in many different things and doesn't specifically have design related skills.

Alternatives:

  • We can have a UX leadership team, (This is not everyone involved in UX, just the leaders) and could included Aidan and yautja_cetanu
  • Others can propose themselves here or nominate others.
