Incompatible with Paragraphs / Inline Entity Form

Created on 12 August 2025, 6 days ago

Problem/Motivation

First of all thank you very much for this great and super helpful module!

I was trying to use this on different paragraph widgets, I tried:

and all behave very strange, if the "Number of values to display" setting is filled.

I encountered the following issues:

On entity / node fresh creation:

  • Initial form display is fine - configured number of entries appears correctly
  • "Collapse" functionality is broken and breaks the entered values
  • Entered values are NOT saved and LOST
  • Initial form display is fine - configured number of entries appears correctly
  • Entered values are NOT saved and LOST
  • No empty lines are added at all - the form looks like without this module (which might be okay, if not supported)

On entity / node edit:

  • Initial form display is fine - configured number of entries appears correctly, but is always empty due to above
  • "Collapse" functionality is broken and breaks the entered values
  • Entered values are NOT saved and LOST
  • Entries from line 1 are repeated on all lines that have no explicit values. E.g. if you enter two deltas, from line 3 on the values from the very first line are pre-filled in the "empty" lines that were shown by this module. I verified that they are *not* existing in the database. Only 2 database values.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install the paragraph module and unlimited_field_settings module
  2. Create a paragraph field and set an amount of fields to show on the widget, e.g. "10"
  3. Try adding and editing the content
  4. See the issues described above

Proposed resolution

As the issues seem to be very similar in all cases, maybe the resolution is also the same, so it would be great to fix this. The functionality of this module would also be VERY helpful for paragraphs, if there are many to enter at once!

Remaining tasks

  1. Find the root cause
  2. Fix it
  3. Test
  4. Release
