Better config handling while upgrading 1.x to 2.x

We tested some update-situations and got errors:

- WPOD if new config is missing for caching
- Error in Backend because of missing default value

Install 1.x and update code to 2.x and try different config settings.

PS: We will remove the PHP-item as suggested in #3502108

Thats it. The problem of WPOD after upgrade could not resolved because of missing hooks. I added this in README.

As just a small addition to #3502108 i merged this due to no errors in pipeline.
