Nobody likes to hear something twice. Removing redundant information for screen readers is an important part of usability for people with disabilities.

Now I'm not sure, but I just tried this and wasn't able to replicate it.
In your video it is easy to see the duplication.
I couldn't see it when I explored it locally:
I think this will required more steps for testing.

@rkoller I had the same experience as @mgifford in that the link description text did not repeat in VoiceOver for me. Here's my system info:
