Change record improvements: Add link to issue, use 11.x?

Created on 21 June 2025, 4 months ago

Problem/Motivation

Under the "Drafts" list of Change Records there is a link to the issue in the last column ("Issues" on the right), but not for the published Change Records:

Also, should 11.3.x or 11.x be used under "Introduced in branch" on https://www.drupal.org/list-changes/drupal β†’ ? It's a hodgepodge of both currently:

* Introduced in branch/version
11.3.x / 11.3.0
11.x / 11.3.0
11.x / 11.2.x
11.2.x / 11.2.0
11.x / 11.3.0
11.2.x / 11.2.0

Perhaps the help text in the form needs to be updated? Suggestion in bold (was 8.0.x, 7.x-3.x and 8.0.0-ALPHA3, 7.5, 7.x-3.2).

* Introduced in branch
Enter the branch this change was first applied in. Examples: 11.x, 3.x

* Introduced in version
Enter the version this change was first applied in. Examples: 11.3.0, 3.2

Or conversely, if 11.2.x is the correct format, use that. Though for issues, 11.x is the required format, so maybe stick to that?

Steps to reproduce

Proposed resolution

  • Add link to the issue in a new last column ("Issues" on the right) for published Change Records
  • Decide if the help text should be updated to use 11.x or 11.2.x

    I suspect the current design was intentional so that the page was not overwhelming.

    You can actually filter the Drafts tab by published status: https://www.drupal.org/list-changes/drupal/drafts?keywords_description=&... β†’ and get to what you are looking for.

    Thanks for a fast reply.

    But it doesn't really make sense to me, to hide this great feature ... Adding a "Hide Issues" checkbox would probably be a better UI design choice, in case some users get overwhelmed. (You write "I suspect", but are you not in touch with those who built it, and the thoughts behind the decision?)

    Also, what do you think about my second suggestion about version confusion? ("[...] should 11.3.x or 11.x be used under "Introduced in branch")
