MidCamp 2025 Accessibility: Onsite A11y support

Created on 12 June 2025, about 1 month ago

For the event, we obtained 2 large monitors from DePaul to display live captions using lc.midcamp.org. These monitors were in rooms 314A and 314B. More information on Live Captioning can be found on Github.

Volunteers sat at the front of the room and used laptop computers to display live captioning on the monitors.

Accessibility lanes were established on the floor with painters tape to help with the flow of foot traffic and to make access to the space more accessible.

When attendees purchased tickets for the event, we allowed them to share if they had accessibility needs on the form. There were 2 requests this year for additional accommodations from attendees. All responses were followed up via email and addressed. We did have a handful of submissions that were discovered to be accidentally submitted.

The following text was used to respond to requests via email.
