On the documentation page, https://www.drupal.org/docs/extending-drupal/contributed-modules/contrib... → this module, http://www.drupal.org/project/link_attributes is suggested as "useful for adding link attributes". I installed the module and couldn't find attributes in menus, although I didn't install the sub-module it comes with. Perhaps the sub-module is what adds the attributes.
I checked the drupal_cms_privacy_basic recipe that ships with Drupal CMS and found it installs the

module instead. This module does the job better.
Update the documentation page to Menu Link Attributes module.

If using the 1️⃣.x branch, It will immediately take effect on menu link content entities.
If using the 2️⃣.x branch, enable the Link Attributes Menu Link Content sub module and It will immediately take effect on menu link content entities.
We added the menu_link_attributes also.
