Add Alternative name field to Person (Nickname)

Problem/Motivation

Alternative name (nickname) is a common field to describe an individual. It avoids the urge to change a Contact's Middle Name to represent their alternative name , losing their middle name in the process. This field is present in CiviCRM.

Proposed resolution

  • Add a "Alternative name / nickname" text field (machine name "alternative_name") to the Person Contact Type
  • Tweak the full_name field on the Individual Contact Type so that it's "Alternative component source" references the alternative_name field
  • Lock the above two fields
