[PP-1] Make field types and field groups distinguishable

Created on 24 May 2025, about 1 month ago

Problem/Motivation

This issue is a followup for 📌 [PP1] Refine field descriptions Active . It was raised during today's ux meeting 📌 Drupal Usability Meeting 2025-05-23 Active . The attendees were @benjifisher, @rkoller, and @simohell.

One detail that surfaced again during todays discussion that we've already touched previous meetings, was that in the first step of the field creation flow in the dialog the user sees thirteen card components with the same styling - the only differentiator are the icons and the micro copy. Based on the visual presentation you would expect that you have thirteen field types available for step 1:

but seven of the alleged field types are actually groups.

Steps to reproduce

Proposed resolution

For orientation, situational awareness, and the general comprehension of the multistep form it would be helpful to differentiate field types and groups by design as well as in the aural interface. so sighted and screenreader users are able to distinguish the two concepts with ease.
