I went looking for documentation on making various render arrays and found this. The table here seems broken; it only lists two types of render element, even though the page seems to indicate it should list every render element in core.
As a side note, after talking to a coworker with more back-end experience than me, I have learned that the type of render array I was looking for (item_list) would never have appeared in that table, because it's a theme hook and not a render element. I remember back in the D7 days there was one page that listed everything you'd ever want to know about every type of Form API render array. It would be great to have a page like that for modern Drupal. (And if that already exists somewhere I'd appreciate a pointer to it.)

Unfortunately, the API site is out of date and that makes it difficult to know if this is a problem with core or the API project.
