I have two entity reference fields in a node type - each of to reference another node. I want to limit the selection of nodes for the values of the second one only to nodes referencing (or being referenced by would also work) the selected node in the first field.
For the lists of selectable nodes I can create entity reference views with arguments but the core issue Allow tokens in entity reference views selection arguments ✨ Allow tokens in entity reference views selection arguments Needs review isn't solved yet.
Optimally the user editing the form should do the node selection in the 1st field and the depending selection in the 2nd field without having to save inbetween.
Could this be archieved with ECA's Event-based selection?

That certainly requires Ajax in the form because you can't prepare the second list when the form is built, you can only build the second list when the first field is being changed in the browser.
