Can't enable edit mode on the home page

Problem/Motivation

We disabled entering edit mode on the home page because we use cookies to improve performance. Setting a cookie on the / path is a problem because it would be a global cookie.

Steps to reproduce

Goto to the home page, there is no Edit Mode button to enable.

Proposed resolution

Let's make a special case Edit Mode button for the front page that links to the node page for editing and enables Edit Mode
