Grey shadow displayed over the <em> elements

I applied some changes in the languages_dropdown.libraries.yml to use the CSS theme https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap.min.css instead of the B5 and the issue seems to be resolved:

Still the Dropdown is not working for BS5.

This can be reviewed now, any novice user wants to look on this?
