Adding media in a inline entity form replaces the previous media

Problem/Motivation

We have a project with a node, that uses inline entity form to create/edit other nodes. On the node, referenced using inline_entity_form, there is a media field. When I have previous values and I select new ones, the previous image is replaced. the default behavior in Drupal is to append them to the media field.
