No metatags are being set

Created on 13 February 2025, 6 months ago

Problem/Motivation

No metatags are being set by the CMS.
See 1_set_metatags_for_node_2.PNG
2_no_metatags_were_set.PNG

Steps to reproduce

I installed DRUPAL CMS (1.0.2) with DDEV and used the preconfigured NEWS installation.
After installation I installed the SEO recipe.

Proposed resolution

Implement a bugfix.

Data model changes

Maybe use the highly used/tested metatags module instead?

@stefvanlooveren the metatag module is utilized by the SEO Tool recipe. Note, that's different from the basic SEO recipe. The SEO tools recipe comes with advanced features and configures not only metatag but also sitemaps, robots.txt and many other things.

Hi Jurgen, it was the SEO tools recipe that I did install.

I've now tested again and first applied the news recipe and afterwards the SEO tools recipe. It works as expected.

I went back to your screenshots and I was wondering that you added metatag information to node 2, but the URL in 2_no_metatags_were_set.PNG is the front page, not from that node. Could you please verify that we're really looking at the correct source?

Also, I wonder if the metatag module is being enabled on your site. It should provide its configuration at /admin/config/search/metatag.

If nothing else helps, could you please retry and write doesn't step by step what you've done from installing a new site to applying recipes afterwards so that we can try to reproduce this problem?

    I redid the same steps:
    - Installation of the 'News' recipe
    - After installation I installed the 'SEO Tools recipe'
    - Create basic page
    - Fill in the fields of 'Search Engine Optmization (Seo) information
    - Save the node

And it WORKED. So unclear to me why this didn't work out on my first try. But pretty sure it must have been something else than a bug.
