Problem/Motivation

I have a use case: I want to build with Layout Builder landing pages that I don't want to map with existing config --> Only "static content". So, while trying to use Layout Builder as Layout override in node edit I would need some new features:

Add a "Content" context when I am using UI Patterns 2 in a content entity (in layout builder override now, with why not, Ckeditor5 later)
Add a "Content" source, available only in this context, to pick any content entity (media, block content, node, user...) from the website, entity reference style
It would be great if it is possible to create the target content entity from this new source instead of referencing only exiting entities (like what Layout Builder is doing for Inline block content)
(Nice to have) In BlockSource, filter out the inline content block when this context is not met

Would be happy to discuss it.

Talked with Christian. If we find a drupal contrib module already providing any content entity (with display mode selection) as a block plugin, we can use the existing BlockSource and we will only need the new context (for filtering).

So, let's have a look. Michael, do u want to investigate?

By the way:

Ctools is providing a simialr block byt only for displaying another view mode of the same content entity

Media Library source of UIP Settings 3.0 will also need this new "content" context
