Add support for Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental with apps model

Created on 7 February 2025, about 1 month ago

Problem/Motivation

I would like to request the addition of support for the new Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental with apps Reasoning across YouTube, Maps & Search model to the Gemini Provider module.

Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental with apps is Google's latest experimental AI model that offers enhanced reasoning capabilities and integrates with Google apps like YouTube, Maps, and Search. This integration allows the model to provide more context-aware and dynamic responses by leveraging information and reasoning across these platforms.

Proposed resolution

Implement support for the "Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental with apps" model within the Gemini Provider module. This would involve:

Updating the module to recognize and include "Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental with apps" as a valid model option when connecting to the Gemini API.
Potentially adjusting API request parameters or handling responses to fully utilize the capabilities of this new model, especially its app integrations.

Thank you for considering this feature request. I believe it would significantly enhance the Gemini Provider module and provide Drupal users with access to the latest advancements in Google's AI models.

I think this will automatically become available once the google will let it be available for "all" API "integrators" as Gemini 2.0 Flash was available in the next day after announcement.

p.s. Please check the latest dev version ... till the next release ...

@lekso_surameli - we need to check if this model is loaded and works in recent beta release. If yes, we can mark this as fixed, or identify what needs to be done more.
