Upgrade causing fatal error

I have configured various extra fields on entities on my site. They are all of the views type. I have not had any issues with them until now.

When I upgraded from 2.1.0-rc3 to 2.1.0-rc4, I got this error when viewing any of those entities: `Uncaught PHP Exception Error: "Call to a member function getName() on null" at /var/www/ciac/web/core/lib/Drupal/Core/Config/Entity/ConfigEntityStorage.php line 206`

I downgraded the package back to 2.1.0-rc3 and the issue went away.

That's interesting; we committed a patch that was supposed to address that exact issue, as most people were experiencing the problem where the configuration naming was set up incorrectly, which was introduced in a previous patch that was committed some time ago.

Can you confirm that after the upgrade you run `drush updb`?

I did - it said "no pending updates"

I have tried again just now with a fresh copy of the DB from production, which has never had the update, just in case I misremembered.

Still "no pending updates"
