Going to try and get another issue or two in before a release but per slack I'm fine with this.
Automatically closed - issue fixed for 2 weeks with no activity.
The 7.x release removed all update functions from 8005 and up. However, 8005 was added only a short time before 7.x started and there's no hard reason to do so, allowing to updating from 8003 makes it easier for users from a slightly older 6.x version to update to 7.x directly.
