Untypical project name drupal/kint-kint

Created on 7 January 2025, about 2 months ago

Problem/Motivation

composer require 'drupal/kint-kint:^2.0' is really untypical, it should be drupal/kint:^2 imho.

Is that a bug or a feature? :)

It's a bug. I reported it at devel but they have no idea either: https://gitlab.com/drupalspoons/devel/-/issues/549

Apparently drupal reserves composer package names for contrib submodules sometimes... I'll have to take Weitzman's advice, install slack, and ask about it in there.

Thanks, that's really wild. I can't see a root cause either. Interested to hear what caused this!

Way back in drupal 7 kint was its own module and devel used krumo. When D8 came out devel replaced krumo with kint and added it as a submodule. It hasn't been a submodule for ages but drupal added a metapackage to refer to it, which you can see if you run composer show -a drupal/kint
