Menus missing "top level" link

Problem/Motivation

There are many examples of this on the admin menu for Drupal CMS.
I have to click on a sub-menu link to then click on another tab on that page to navigate back to the "top level page" I wanted to see. The fact that I end up at a deeper level than I wanted is doubly confusing.

Steps to reproduce

One example.

  • I want to look at the email templates.
  • That's a menu item under Structure, so I click "Email templates" but that just opens up an accordion and the only option there is to click on "Email overrides".

  • When I'm on the Email overrides page, I then have to click on the Templates tab to get back to the Email templates page, which is where I wanted to go in the first place.

That's not a very good user experience. I can't easily get to the menu option I wanted to get to despite it being clearly shown on the menu interface.

Proposed resolution

In this particular case there should be an "Email" menu item with two options underneath it:

  1. Templates
  2. Overrides

Perhaps even three options given there's also an Email Settings tab. I'm not sure what the rationale is for deciding whether a menu tab is displayed on the menu or not.

I appreciate the Navigation menu is still experimental and this is an age-old menu interface issue, but we should be aiming for maximum UX for new users of the Drupal CMS.

    Thanks for reporting. This is a known issue with Navigation, not Drupal CMS.

    Thanks. It's hard to provide feedback on Drupal CMS as a product when it's based on Core with its own separate issues. I'm just providing feedback on the product as requested given it's launching in a few days and we all want to see it at its best give the fanfare around its launch. It's probably very annoying for you, but I appreciate the responses.
