Link Carousel Items to another page or URL

Problem/Motivation

I'm looking for a way to allow Content Editors to link a Carousel Item image to another page or external URL. So users can click on the image and it goes directly to a link specified. Is there a way already built in that I am missing?

I'm assuming I would need to manually add a link field to the specific paragraph type and then I would need to modify the template file for the EPT Carousel?
