Add Tests and enable gitlab-ci

Problem/Motivation

Currently, the module lacks automated tests, which limits our ability to detect regressions, ensure code quality, and verify functionality as the module evolves. Adding comprehensive tests will improve maintainability, ensure reliability, and provide a foundation for future enhancements.

Proposed resolution

Create a series of tests to cover key aspects of the module, divided into Unit, Kernel, and Functional tests. Each type will focus on a specific layer of functionality to maximize test efficiency and coverage. This parent issue will track the progress and coordinate the sub-issues for each type of test.
