This is perhaps also an issue of the project page's representation of the module no longer representing its current state. Both the region and content preview buttons are now nested beneath display options, which is not the case in the screenshot nor the video.

We should add a option to handle this. Often it is better to overlap but of course there are cases which resize is better.

Their is a but when the Layout Builder edit viewport is not resize. We have some full screen width block in the website i work for. And the contextual link is display behind the sidebar in this case. So contributor is no longer able to contribute on it.

I am not sure if I understand the problem. The right edit sidebar overlap the content. This is actually the current behavior for very long time. We did that because resizing the content leads to jumps and the editor loses the scope. But I am open to add a configuration where we can configure this behavior.

Adding this behaviour as a setting would be really nice!

I believe I'm experiencing the same problem. I can't access the contextual links to edit or remove existing blocks in layout builder. The sidebar overlaps the content including the contextual links and since the sidebar can't be collapsed, the contextual links are completely inaccessible.
I've added a screen recording demonstrating the issue. In the recording, I use `display: none;` on the layout builder sidebar to show the hidden contextual links behind it.
