Group membership request may be a stable module but currently has no Drupal 11 support and no test pipelines set. Also, it's not something that will be required by all projects so it'll be good to move the integration to a sub module for projects that need it so the LMS core can move on to support Drupal 11 without any further blockers.
The plan for now is to move it to a completely separate module with relevant core version requirement.
