There are some great "Alternative Solution"s already posted. We've previously been using AddtoAny, but I'm going to test this module out on a few new sites to compare and can follow-up with my experience.
Also, I'm following Better Social Sharing Buttons → which seems to share a similar no frills, no entanglements philosophy as this module as a replacement for Social Media Links Block and Field → .
Also... relatedly, perhaps some language/explanation to help newcomers who may be a bit confused as to the two distinct "types" of social sharing would be appreciated.
