Nodes do not show in view unless they are re-saved

When creating a view, with a filter of " Taxonomy Entity Index: Has taxonomy terms on Content (with depth and indexed in taxonomy_entity_index)", our nodes do not appear in the view unless they are re-saved.

I installed the module and ran the batch re-indexing via drush prior to creating the view.

Is this normal behavior, do the nodes have to be re-saved in order for them to work with views and taxonomy entity index?
