Showcase a few examples?

Created on 11 October 2024, 4 months ago

Problem/Motivation

Some Drupal modules link to one or more web sites, to highlight the features of the module, for example Leaflet ("> Live Demo <").

These example web sites can both serve as educational tools, to show what the modules actually does, but also serve as inspiration, with examples of different methods of using it.

Steps to reproduce

Visit the project page, and like to see the Collapsiblock module in use, to better understand how it works.

Proposed resolution

Perhaps the project page of Collapsiblock could link to a few examples of the module in use? It could be as simple as adding a section like this, after the introduction:

Collapsiblock examples

To see the Collapsiblock module in action, please visit Example1, Example2, or Arst.dk.

Version 4 - Recommended

4.x introduces some changes on 2.x/3.x that may break site themes/behaviours.

Remaining tasks

Decide if it should be added. Also, should users interested in getting included contact the maintainer to nominate their web site?

I'm very happy to list some examples on the module page if they're well maintained!

For the sake of expectation management: I reserve the right for all maintainers of this module now and in the future to politely decline requests for inclusion, remove examples at any time for any reason without warning and otherwise manage the list of examples as they see fit.

I don't have any examples of my own, so please comment here if you have some you would like reviewed for inclusion :)

Thanks, that sounds great :) And I agree, the maintainers have the last say, whether a site should be included or not in the list. Perhaps a maximum of around five sites would work well? I have included my site, last on the list in the Issue Summary.

I thought about it, and maybe a sentence like below could be included somewhere ... I was not sure where it would fit best, so I created Collapsiblock documentation pages in the new system, at https://www.drupal.org/docs/extending-drupal/contributed-modules/contrib... and included the text at the bottom. What do you think about it?

Perhaps the new doc page can be added on the project page simply as Documentation , and replace the link to the old https://www.drupal.org/docs/7/modules/collapsiblock doc page ("Documentation for Collapsiblock 7.x")?

    Collapsiblock examples

To see a few examples of web sites which uses Collapsiblock, and different ways of using it for inspiration, please look under "Collapsiblock examples" on the Collapsiblock project page .

Contact the maintainer, to suggest your site for inclusion. The module maintainers now and in the future reserve the right to politely decline requests for inclusion, remove examples at any time for any reason with or without warning, and otherwise manage the list of examples as they see fit.

Thanks for starting the documentation in the new system, well overdue, applying credit here for getting that done.

There wasn't really enough content to be creating child pages yet, but as that has begun, I've separated out the 'showcase' instructions to their own page so the index page has more purpose.

I've added your site to the module page along with a link to the instructions to get a site included, which I will probably remove when we have 3 examples.

Perfect @darvanen, it looks great, thanks!

    yw :)

A small detail ... but for some new users, "8+" doesn't mean anything. So perhaps this could work better? The D8+ format is used quite often , https://www.drupal.org/search/site/D8%2B . I also think placing the version last looks better aesthetically, placing the important part first (documentation) and the qualifier last (D8/D7).

    Now

    • 8+ Documentation
    • 7.x Documentation

    Better?

    • Documentation (D8+)
    • Documentation (D7)

    Sure.
