Drupal 11 compatibility fixes for publication_date

Everything looks good for D11 compatibility, though I might point out that the vast majority of the code changes here relate to coding syntax, rather than D11 compatibility per se. Nice to see all the green checkmarks on the syntax tests, but I wouldn't want this to hold up a "skinny" D11 release, given that Drupal 11 core was released 5 months ago.

In any case, this is RTBC.

Attempting to contact the last active maintainer, @webflow, to coordinate the release.

I've tested the basic functionality of the module at commit 5901169 from merge request !22 on a local D11 site, and it works for me, so +1 to RTBC from me!

(for the sake of brevity, I'm leaving out my test steps, but let me know if you'd like me to post them)
