What are the replacements for PrepareSearchQueryEvent and BuildSearchParamsEvent?

Problem/Motivation

I just upgraded a website from Elastic 7 to 8 and so I also upgraded the ElasticSearch Connector to 8.
Previously we made heavy use of the PrepareSearchQueryEvent (and BuildSearchParamsEvent) events, but these no longer exist.

What are the replacement events and/or what is the new way especially to modify the search query?
