Problem/Motivation

The intent of this issue is to coordinate efforts in the creation of the 5.0.0-beta1 major version release of the Environment Indicator module.

The 5.0.0-beta1 release marks a major update to the module, introducing new features, significant enhancements, and potentially breaking changes that require thorough testing. This release will focus on ensuring that these changes work as intended and gathering feedback from the community to address any issues before the final 5.0.0 release.

Remaining tasks

  • Establish a list of release-blockers and 'good-to-fix' issues for the 5.0.0-beta1 release.
  • Resolve the above issues blocking the beta release.
  • Create a new default branch for the 5.x release series:
    • Create a new branch from the latest commit on the current default branch (e.g., 4.x).
    • Push the new branch to the repository (e.g., git push origin 5.x).
    • Update the project’s settings on Drupal.org to set 5.x as the new default branch.
    • Inform contributors about the new default branch and update any documentation that references the default branch.
  • Complete development and merge all merge requests for the listed issues into the 5.x branch.
  • Create 5.0.0-beta1 release from the 5.x branch.
  • Beta testing and gather community feedback.
  • Identify any further issues to address before the final 5.0.0 release.
  • Craft changelog for the final 5.0.0 release.
  • Create 5.0.0 stable release.
