When selecting an image style we use the slug full to mean the Original image. In my case I am using an image style named full which is not the original image. Which causes a conflict with the two keys and I am unable to get the original image since its using the image style.
Rename the slug/key used for Original images to something like _original_ which would be more unlikely to have a style of the same name.
