Drupal core issue is now merged

Problem/Motivation

https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/3347343 ✨ Continuation Add Views EntityReference filter to be available for all entity reference fields Active is now merged, though it is an opt-in. When working out the opt-in approach @catch and @acbramley and I figured contrib could do the very simple opt-in until its configurable in Core. That module intends to provide an update path to eventually delete itself once the core follow-up issues are merged.

Should we discuss a migration path from here to there to eventually deprecate VERF, entity_reference_exposed_filters, and eventually fully removing the minimal views_core_entity_reference?

Or are there features from this module that don't exist now in Core that still suggest it is worth continuing?
