Field default values are not being respected

I did not find this issue in version 2.x. I followed the steps below to reproduce the issue:

1. Cloned the 2.x branch and installed the module.
2. Added the list field in the content type and set its default value.
3. Changed the form display for the list field to 'draggable table.'
4. Created a new article and saw the default value I had set before.

Fixed and released as part of 2.1.2.
