This module makes the formatter available on "text" field.

Could you tell me which module you are using to create icon field?

Ok, it worked after I made sure that fontawesome_iconpicker_widget module is uninstalled (submodule of fontawesome) and then I created a new textfield and I was able to select the formatter.

@andreic could you tell me if you were using Fontawesome 5 or 6? There are two issues which are open for review, and we maybe able to close one of those
