add view arguments

I can't see the profit for using argument in Entity Reference field. You can add View Display and set filter in it for your category. If you want to define category ID dinamically, then you defenately needs to extend Entity Reference widget.

As I can read in Views Reference field, it's possible to change settings for the field and enable to select contextual filter:

You need to go in your EBT Tab Item paragraph type and update settings for Tab Views field:
/admin/structure/paragraphs_type/ept_tabs_item/fields/paragraph.ept_tabs_item.field_ept_tab_views

So, you don't need any additional modules, just change settings for Tab Views field in your site.

So Entity Reference module provides functionality which you need. I will close this ticket, feel free to open it if you have any ideas or problems with it.
